What is permanent make up?

Permanent makeup, also known as permanent cosmetics, derma-pigmentation, micro-pigmentation,semi-permanent makeup and cosmetic tattooing, is a cosmetic technique which employs tattoos (permanent pigmentation of the dermis) as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as eye-lining and other permanent enhancing colors to the skin of the facelips, and eyelids.

It is also used to produce artificial eyebrows, particularly in people who have lost them as a consequence of old age, disease, such as alopecia areataalopecia totalischemotherapy, or a genetic disturbance, and to disguise scars and hypopigmentation in the skin such as in vitiligo. It is also used to restore or enhance the breast's areola, such as after breast surgery, or to give an illusion of more hair volume to the scalp.

Brow Tattoo

After-Care Instructions

Week 1

  • Do not get brows wet for two weeks!

  • Keep them extremely clean and only apply Vaseline after day 3 if they are extremely dry and flaky.

  • If the brows appear dry but are not flaking, avoid applying anything and allow them to heal naturally on their own. If you feel as though your brows are still flaky and dry you can continue to apply a thin layer of Vaseline once daily.

  • Avoid shellfish, glutinous, and starchy foods such as potatoes and sticky rice for the first 3 days to avoid swelling, irritation, and infection.

Week 2

  • On day 7, you can get a slightly damp cotton pad and gently pat down the brow to remove any dirt or hard fluids built up.

  • Do not use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants.

Week 3

  • Make sure to keep the skin clean and dry. Let them naturally exfoliate and scab, do not pick.

  • You can moisturize with a normal moisturizer but no products that contain glycolic acid or AHA's (please refer to your current skincare product ingredients).

  • No cleaners, makeup, swimming, spas, or direct water on the area until peeling has finished.

  • Brows will not appear their true colour until the fourth week.

  • For some clients it is perfect, others it may be too light, or patchy in some areas.

It is crucial to adhere closely to after treatment guidelines for best healing results.

Healing: What to Expect

  • Depending on metabolism, some people will experience more exfoliation than others.

  • The colour underneath the brows will at this point appear to be much lighter in comparison to the skin which is coming off.

  • The eyebrows will take 10-15 days to fully appear after the peeling has finished.

  • At this point the colour will be lighter and more natural in appearance.

  • Sunscreen is advised to protect the brows from fading.

  • If you have any unexpected problems with the healing of the skin, please contact Kisume Beauty immediately, to discuss further instructions.

Contact a physician if any signs or symptoms develop such as the following: fever, redness at the site, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, elevated body temperature, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, and/or any green/yellow discharge that is foul in odor.
